The TAD Gear Survival Spark is inspired by the classic Vietnam Era emergency sparking unit supplied in pilot/air crew survival kits. The CEO of TAD Gear first saw these when a friend who served with the 5th SF Group during VN, gave him one he had stashed away from the 1960's.

Our version is a modern classic with significant updates and added functionality making it one of the most versatile units available.  The brass construction of the original sparking units spoke of a time when plastic had not yet become the end-all and sadly, throwaway material in an increasingly disposable-minded society.  Our Survival Spark is a very compact size and updated with a unique design to maximize function.  By using available space and reducing material on the brass shaft we created a neck down which allows for the user to create and store a basic emergency DIY sewing kit.  This smart TAD Gear innovation makes this emergency fire starter even more useful and versatile.  Made from solid brass billet, it is fully reusable, refillable with flints and designed to last a lifetime.  Simple to operate and when used in conjunction with a variety of tinder available commercially or DIY, this is a proven emergency sparking unit which is a life saver in any survival kit.
