LiteFoam™
Representing a breakthrough in foam technology, LiteFoam solved the challenge of making Therm-a-Rest mattress even lighter and more compact. With LiteFoam we use less foam, so there’s less weight and less bulk. Our patented LiteFoam process starts out with a solid piece of open-cell foam much narrower than the finished mattress. Next, a pattern of slits is stamped into the foam. Then we stretch it out to its full width, opening the slits into an interlocking configuration. Finally, the expanded foam core is bonded to a fabric cover. The result is a Performance Series Therm-a-Rest mattress that weighs less and rolls up smaller than any solid-foam mattress, yet is every bit as comfortable.
